Now that tens of millions of people have finished season 2 of Outer Banks there are many rumors swirling on TikTok, Twitter and all over the Internet. The biggest question is, “Is Big John Routledge (John B’s father) really still alive?” Some rumors have predicted that the final scene of season 2 with Carla Limbrey was a flashback. There are also rumors that Carla Limbrey (played by Elizabeth Mitchell) is John B’s mother and the wife of Big John Routledge. This would explain their relationship and knowledge of the treasure.
Unfortunately, we are not going to get answers to many open ended questions. There is little debate that Outer Banks will be four or five seasons, but hopefully we will not have to wait too long to get a third season. Do not believe any of the rumors that the third season will be out any time in 2021. In fact, we will be lucky to get the third season in the first half of 2022. Popular shows like Stranger Things took well over two years to have a new season on Netflix.
The good news is that all the cast members of Outer Banks are very active on social media; especially Instagram. On TikTok, the more popular TikTok fan accounts have created plenty of content for diehard Outer Banks fans. If you want more Sarah Cameron, John B, JJ, Pope and Kiara, you are going to have to wait a few months and potentially well over a year.
Look for more rumors to swirl, but the most popular rumor right now is that the last scene in Season 2, Episode 10 is a flashback and Big John Routledge is really dead and not alive. Him asking Carla Limbrey for help was actually before all the events of season 2.
